I have finally used up the last of the old time powders for both 20ga & 28ga. I've got 16# of 20/28 I am moving to for both ga. I have the bushing sizes to start with on my MEC's (got that from MEC). Have tons of powder bushings for the 366's. Hornadys charts read like the 1960's for powder bushings(no 20/28 listed). If someone out there is using this powder in 366's for these ga.'s just give me a bushing number for each ga. as a starting point. I have scales(two balance beams and a electronic) and not afraid to use them. Just don't want to waste a lot of time fumbling around for a starting point. Thanks.
Chris
Take your calipers and measure the dia of the MEC bushing. Hornady bushings are numbered in thousandths of an inch. A 456 Hornady bushing measures .456". If I'm not mistaken the length of the MEC and Hornady bushings is the same. Or you could just do the math and calculate the volume with a few likely suspects. Given 20/28 is more dense than Unique, that ought to give you someplace to start. If you have a bunch of Hornady bushings try a few, that's what I do.
fase3,
Curly did a nice job of correlating 20/28 MEC charging to P-W and Hornady bushings. If he spots this thread I'm sure he will share with you.
The last time I loaded 20ga I used 354 bushing for 15.5gr from my RCBS Grand. For 28ga I think I use MEC 16 or 17 for my 9000G, but I don't recall exactly which right now.
If you call Ben Monday morning at 800/276-9337, I gave him a graph of Curly's data and mine combined. It isn't exact, but he can give you a starting range. (That is all bushing recommendations are good for actually.)
Thanks for buying our product. I am sure you will like it.
Shoot well,
Paul

Duh. Never thought about dragging out the calipers. Old age is really getting to me! Will call Ben on Mon. just for back up to my findings. BP,Curly, Paul-Thanks for the kind help.

Talked to Ben this afternoon and he gave me 366 bushing numbers to use as a starting point for the 20&28 ga. Will call Hornady on Tues. for those bushings as well as a couple of bushings above and below his suggested bushing for each ga. Never can have to many powder bushings. Thanks again for everyones help on here.
Chris
My Spolar uses Hornady bushings. I fixed the powder bushing issue years ago thanks to Recob's. They have a brass adapter bushing with the Hornady OD size and machined to accept MEC bushings. I believe it is locally made. I can now use ANY MEC powder bushing. Give Recob's a call. Bushing availability is s-o-o-o-o cool. Ric
Midway USA has the adapter bushing in stock $7.99 that allows use of a MEC bushing in a Hornady or PW press.
