Hey guys I have a Browning Citori and the dam goose egg bead is freakin' in my view. My eyes keep focusing on it instead of the target. Is there a replacement brass bead that is smaller. I was thinking of knocking it off but I use this gun for squirrels and turkeys too and a bead is beneficial.

Here is the chart for your bead thread size,
http://www.brownells.com/.aspx/lid=1118 ... hread_List

And Brownells sells replacement sight beads.

But if you have the gun set up to shoot 50/50, no matter what sized bead you stick on the front of the rib, it's still going to block your vision anyways on such shots.

Looking ONLY at the target is a learned skill. You have picked up a bad habit shooting the gun like a rifle. I suggest you try to break the habit before changing beads, which would be dealing with a symptom rather than the cause of the problem.

When shooting clays, say "target, target, target" to yourself each time before calling for a target. When it is released, focus hard and visually center on the leading edge of each target. Try to see the ridges on the leading edge.

You can do the same thing with other shooters' targets until you develop the skill.

The front bead on my 391 came loose and I never got around to properly tightening it.The inevitable happened and it fell off but like a lot of other shooters this has happened to,I never noticed it straight away.I shot quite a few rounds without it and never missed it and my shooting didn't get worse.I eventually got another bead and fitted it and immediately,as soon as I mounted the gun,my eye was drawn to the bead and my shooting suffered as a result.I took it off and have never refitted it.

Take the dang thing off!
I shot an old baker double many years ago, for about three months with out a bead...................then someone told me the bead was missing?
Replace it and after that couldn't hit a damn thing with that old double.
Should have left well enough alone!

Actually I use the churchill method, I never see the bead, only target. But the bead is just so big that my eyes are attracted to it. I usually just see the target with the barrel rib in a blur.
