Hey all, Finally got around to finishing my latest restored gun and though i would share some pics! it's a RARE J.C. Higgins Model 21 Deluxe grade, 20 Gauge pump shotgun chambered for 2-3/4 and 3 inch shells. I personally have a love for these old guns and this one was a great addition to my collection!

Somebody in your family must have been in the "gun of the year" club at Sears and Roebucks way back in the day.;)

That's yet another beautiful old High Standard pump gun from the Wish Book,,,that I'd never heard of before. Looks like the next step up from a Model 20 Deluxe.

I wonder if the adjustable choke was High Standard's own version of the Polychoke? It's not the usual "Power Pac" reversed Cutts Compensator usually found on the Model 20 Deluxe.

I'm curious as to that choke. Could we see some more pictures of it please?

That's a beautiful gun, great job making it all pretty, and would you look at the quality of the wood they used?

Thanks for all the kind words everyone!! i'll try and take some more pictures of the poly-choke when i get home this evening. Believe it or not every J.C. Higgins guns I've restored always have had nice wood on them. The factory just loved to use really low grade varnish to spray on them so it hides ALOT. But when you strip if off with a chemical stripper the beauty shows itself underneath.

My twelfth Christmas was a happy one when I unwrapped one of those. Downed a rooster with it later in the day. I have always since had a soft spot in my head for the 3 inch twenty.

Nice job on a gun worth restoring. Looks like it's ready for another couple of generations.

SuperXOne: here are the pics of the poly-choke you asked about

and this one's just for flavor, it's a screw in poly-choke that i salvaged off of a different J.C. Higgins shotgun to fit my Model 20 with screw in chokes (still have all 3 chokes too)

Image

salvaged it from a barrel like this one

I have a JC Higgins Model 20. Seeing your work on those stocks has inspired me to refinish the stock on mine. Your point about great wood being underneath is something I did not think of. Thanks {hs# RB

hell yeah! i encourage anyone that has a J.C. Higgins gun to redo the stocks on them. High Standard used very good quality american walnut on all their guns that they made for Sears, even the bolt action shotguns have good wood!! as we'll see soon, it's my next gun i'm restoring

How many High Standard Sears and Sawbucks shootin' irons do you have there?

I do have my very own Model 31 JC Higgins, and it's definitely a goodern. Mine needed a new mag spring to reliably feed all those 17 long rifles down the magazine. I just hope Joe Biden doesn't come after mine.:)

And those chokes aren't Polychokes, and they don't seem to be a Cutts, either. I wonder who made up their chokes. Maybe they made their own.

Wellllll i have a growing collection  they are good quality guns and can be had for cheap!! I do know that Pachmayr developed the PoW-eR PaC Choke system for High Standard to use on the Higgins Model 20, maybe they made the chokes for the others as well?
