Does anyone know the name of a quailty straw hat that you can order by head size? All I can find are one size fits all makers.
After being in the sun for too many years I want a little more coverage than a ball cap gives.
Thanks in advance.

Any straw hat I know of is sized, how much do you want to spend? Resistol/Stetson/Justin-----do a google search for a store like Cavenders, Boots and Jeans, etc.

Some of the one-size-fits-all hats work well for me - but I have a big head, and they might not work as well for you.
I can't help with brands, but I'll mention something to look for in terms of quality. Get one that has thin cloth glued to the underside of the brim and the top. That keeps sun from going through the open weave of the hat to shine in your eyes and on the top of your head, making it hot. The sides of the crown are still open-weave for ventilation. A hat that has a tight weave might not need the cloth, but then you don't get the ventilation through the sides of the crown.

Ga Skeet,
You might find something at Gemplers
http://www.gemplers.com/
In general Western / cowboy straw hats usually come in different sizes
Some of the other styles usually don't, or at least I have not been able to find them as such.

Academy Sports has straws that fit my "Bucket" head (7 3/4)
$5.99
Gander has straws that are stiffer and they are $9.99
Both are XL sized. They fit. The Academy Sports straw is s little loose being
softer/less stiff and has blown off in a gentle Texas breeze a couple of times
I like the Gander Mtn hat, It has a cloth Fish band thou

I have several from Bass Pro.
The cowboy hat style is my favorite but not when I am shooting, because it gets in the way. It's only like $10 or something. I also have the golf style hat which has a flatter brim which is better for keeping the sun off. It seems to work well when I'm shooting. Both are one size fits all with an elastic band inside so it seems to fit well.

I like the Tilley hats. They are not straw but they are washable cotton duck. I sweat a lot under the heat. They also use other materials for their hat. The brim is bendable. The most popular style is the T3 hat.

Go to the Orvis site for a top notch panama straw in Aussie style that is no more expensive than most of the other quality hats and can be ordered by head size.

My vote would go for a palm leaf hat. You can actually dunk them in a lake and not harm them. Another good feature is that they are relatively cheap. I usually buy one every two years from a local western wear shop. Usually runs me about $20. The brim will be plenty big enough to provide adequate shade, and they can't be beat for durability.

I have a couple of Ultimate hats. Like 'em better than the Tilley's......nice company owners and made in USA.
I've got the classic "bucket" or "boonie" style and also a baseball style with the back flap which does a good job of covering my neck and ears.

There are also ventilated fedora and boonie styles that are very popular here in FL - lightweight, made of nylon and have full brims up to 4" in diameter - protect your ears AND neck. Some of the fishing hats with the neck protector are also popular if you can't find a straw one to suit you

here ya go, sunbody.com, they sell thousands and thousands of Guatamalen and Palm leaf straw hats. You can have them shape the hat for you, or you can do it very easily.
These hats are inexpensive, extremely durable and cool in warm weather.
