One of the many design flaws of the 24. The spring should be about an inch or a little longer. As far as telling how long it should be cut to, well that can't be answered. You'll have to fit the piece a little at a time. On the side of the extractor block, lay your pieces out and line up all the pin holes. Cut the spring so its longer than the distance between the extractor and guide, maybe 5 or 6 rounds longer. Assemble and test. You should have a lot of force to push the extractor in but not so long the spring compresses and doesn't go all the way in. Just remember its a must to start way longer than needed and trim till you get in the correct length and while fitting dont cut but one round at a time off. If you need my help while your doing it feel free to give me a call and I'll walk you through it best I can. I'll take one of mine apart while I'm on the phone.
